Resonance Music & Arts Festival Postpone Event, Push Final Edition to 2023 in Ohio

Published by Johnny Goudie on

Just weeks before settling into their new home at the Woodlands Nature Reserve in Charleston, S.C., on Sept. 15 through 17, Resonance Music & Arts Festival has postponed their production. Organizers for the event, Essential Productions, wrote in a post this morning (Saturday, Aug. 27) that they were forced to postpone the event after Dorchester County suspended all music events at the reserve.

According to the Post and Courier, music-and-entertainment-related events require a special permit from the county, and the applications for Resonance Music & Arts Festival and a Slightly Stoopid show at the venue were denied. Michelle Mills, Dorchester County’s public information officer, told the Post and Courier that “the scale and frequency of the events held at the Woodlands Nature Reserve are no longer incidental and subordinate to the permitted ecotourism use of the property.”

Despite their best efforts, organizers were unable to find a replacement location in time for an event of Resonance Music & Arts Festival’s scale. They also shared in the announcement that in light of the new challenges, the “Last Dance” of the event will now take place at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, Ohio, on June 29 through July 1, 2023.

The lineup for Resonance Music & Arts Festival included two nights and four sets of Goose, two nights of Umphrey’s McGee, three nights of Papadosio, two nights of Lotus, two sets by ElephantProof and Eggy; and performances by Amon Tobin Presents Two Fingers DJ Set,  Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Emancipator, The Floozies, Big Something, Amber Lily, Dizgo, DJ Moldybrain, Easy Honey and more.

We have recently received news that Dorchester County has indefinitely suspended all music based events at The Woodlands Nature Reserve. This includes all upcoming shows previously scheduled at that location.

Since receiving this news, we have explored replacement venues all over the Charleston area, Southeastern and Midwestern parts of the country. Between availability and logistic concerns, the only viable option is to come back home to Ohio.

There is simply not enough time for our patrons, the lineup, vendors and our staff to change their travel plans to a different part of the country while still providing the experience that we’ve always promised to deliver. We are left with no option but to postpone the event to next year.

This Resonance will be our last and will take place June 29th-July 1st, 2023 at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, OH. Although a change like this is not ideal, we are thrilled to have secured such an exceptional option. NLQP has hosted shows at their venue for 25+ years and provides one of the greatest camping experiences in the country. Complete with wooded camping, beachside swimming, cliff jumping and more, NLQP is truly one-of-kind.

All ticket holders will have the option to have their ticket refunded but ask you to consider the following options. All GA ticket holders who roll their tickets over to 2023 will have their ticket upgraded to VIP. All VIP ticket holders who roll their tickets over to 2023 will receive 1 GA ticket or VIP upgrade for a future buyer. The VIP area will host a full stage and schedule, poster, pin and other amenities only available to VIPs. Camping pass holders have the option of reserving that pass for our preferred camping area or requesting a refund.

For those who have no other option but to request a refund, please fill out the application at the link below. These must be done manually and will be processed in the order they are received. Please be patient with us and we promise we will get to you. If you prefer not to wait, we have created a link at Cash-or-Trade to open up a ticket transfer portal connecting buyers and sellers across the country. This process is quick and secure: Ticket Transfer Portal | Refunds.

We understand there will be a variety of questions and concerns in response to this news and we will address each of them as soon as possible.

Resonance has faced a lot of challenges and adversity in our history and although we stand at the base of our greatest obstacle yet, the show must go on.

Every challenge we’ve faced, we’ve done so with the support of so many incredible staff, bands, artists, volunteers, vendors and of course, the most resilient and loving fans on the planet. We cannot thank you enough for believing in us and touching our lives in countless ways over the years; we would not be where we are or who we are without you.

We want to express our gratitude for our friends at Legend Valley and all their support during and after our time there. Their belief in us planted the seed that has allowed Resonance to grow. Since leaving Legend Valley in 2018 we have visited countless venues across the country searching for a new home and although we’ve enjoyed some truly miraculous places, one thing has always been true, Ohio is our home.

As much as it saddens us to say that this will be our last Resonance. What better way to celebrate the entirety of this crazy ride than to bring it back to where it all started. Saying goodbye is never easy, but we have some amazing announcements coming your way soon and can promise you that this will be the best Resonance yet!
